Sunny's Rehabilitation
Story
Sunny (by her owners,
Nancy and Vikki Voutour)
Approximately one year prior to
Sunny's arrival to NHF in June of 2008, she had sustained a rear leg
suspensory injury requiring extensive medical treatment and several
months of rest. Shortly after receiving the 'All Clear' to
place Sunny back into a work program, she refused to move forward
and began rearing, developed ulcers and was labeled as 'dangerous
and unridable'. After spending two and a half months away in a
'boot-camp' type of program where she at least became rideable,
Sunny was brought home to NHF where her rehabilitation began.
The NHF team spent an enormous amount of time weaning her back
into a more normal program, taking care in her turnout time and hand
walking up and down hills and on trails to buildup her stamina.
Sunny is no longer on ulcer medications, she has developed
beautiful muscle tone, place 1st in Dressage Training Level 1 and
has become an overall happy, delightful pony.
